Q: Do I need a "Secure Form"? A: If you are collecting sensitive information, yes. This can include SS#, Bank details, any financial or health information, and more. Q: What is a "SSL Certificate"? A: An SSL Certificate is a certificate file issued by a known trusted source which allows your browser to identify and open a secure, encrypted connection to a web server. Once your browsing session is secure and using the "https" protocol, you can be reasonably sure that your data is being securely transmitted. Encryption is only the first step, you should only submit your sensitive data to a business that you actually trust. Q: That's great but where can I learn about an "E-Commerce Store"? A: We can provide E-Commerce programming solutions, please fill out our free Website Design Quote and specify your needs. |
How it Works Secure forms with a password protected database backend allow you an encrypted connection to securely collect sensitive data in a database for storage and retrieval. Contrary to what many people believe, if you are sending data through email, it is not secure. It could be observed and intercepted at many points along the way before it even gets to your email inbox. With our secure forms you will also get a secure, password protected database backend, allowing you to confidently and securely collect sensitive data such as Credit Card details, Social Security numbers and any private details that are just too important to risk. We can collect as many or as few fields as you need, verify data, record to the database and then send you a notification email telling you have received a submission. This email does not contain any information about the order, it just informs you that a visitor has filled out the form and you should login to view the details. With an insecure solution, not only do you risk your customer’s information, you also risk your own business and assets should your data be compromised. Note: This is meant for general data collection, if you are interest in an E-Commerce store, please fill out our free Website Design Quote and specify your needs. From the users perspective

SSL Options The average website owner in need of SSL encryption should expect to spend anywhere from $40 - $400 yearly, depending on what company you opt to go with. More expensive certificates are genarally not "better" or "more secure" than the less expensive digital certificates. The only practical difference from you or the customers point of view, is the "secure website" seal that is offered, at that point it is a matter of name recognition. Here are a few of the leading SSL providers:
![]() ![]() The visitor arrives at your site and is interested in what you have to offer. They then proceed to click on the link to take them to the secure form. Once the user arrives, if they look in their address bar they will see that the URL is now using the secure https protocol. Additionally, most SSL certificates now have a "Secure Seal" that can also be placed on your website. We can collect as many or as few fields of information as you need, set all or any fields as required information, and of course the "look & feel" is entirely customized to suit your website.
![]() ![]() Under most circumstances, the visitor will have two options once they have completed the form: "Submit" & "Reset". Submit, of course submits the information back to your server to be processed. Reset, erases all data entered and returns the form to its original "blank" state. For long forms that need to collect a lot of information, we typically separate the forms in to a multiple stage process (Step 1, Step 3, Step 3, etc...).
![]() Data Validation & Consistency Check ![]() Once the visitor has submitted the form, the information is processed server-side, and checked for any errors or inconsistencies. If the submission is acceptable, the visitor goes on to the next step (confirmation page), if not, they are returned to the form to correct any errors.
![]() ![]() A confirmation page is simply a way to tell your visitors that the submission was successful and display any other important information that you will want your visitors to see after the secure form is submitted.
![]() ![]() Optionally, but highly recommended the secure form processor can also email the visitor a confirmation. The confirmation email is sent to the email address your visitor supplied when filling out the form.
![]() ![]() Upon each successful submission, you, the administrator receives an email notifying you of a submission. This email does not contain any information about the order, it just informs you that a visitor has filled out the form and you should login to view the details.
![]() ![]() After browsing to your secure administration area, you will be prompted for a username and password. At this point, you will need to enter the username and password that we supplied to you in your documentation.
![]() ![]() After you have logged in, you will be presented with a summary screen with the most recent submissions sorted by date and time. Clicking on a details link will open a page with the full details of the submission.
![]() ![]() Clicking on a details link will open a page with the full details of the submission. "Edit" and "Delete" links are available to correct any mistakes, or to delete a submission altogether.
![]() ![]() On the "Details" page of any submission, clicking on the customers email address opens an email form. You can email the customer directly from this form to clarify any issues you may have with the submission. By default, any replies to this email would go to the Admin email address that is specified in "From" field, however you may modify this if necessary.
![]() ![]() Once you have completed any administrative duties in the Admin, it is recommended that you logout. This is another important step in keeping your customers data safe and secure.
